Professional Experience

My most prominent professional achievement has been working for the Shady Business Tree Nursery for the past seven years. I have absolutely loved my time spent there and have taken with me copious amounts of knowledge regarding the operation of a nursery, working with various types of machines, applying herbicides and pesticides, pruning, planting and installation, marketing, and working with people. I have also worked well beyond the scope of the nursery by constructing buildings, working with stone veneers, installing pavers, establishing grades, repairing landscapes, transporting material, and other small landscape projects.

As mentioned before in the About Me page, I have also professionally worked my own landscape | desgin/build company. Here, I have experienced the freedom and responsibility of running company operations, working directly with clients, and executing their wishes. This experience has allowed me to grow to a point where I know this is a career I can 'sink my teeth' into.

Along with the nursery and my business, I have also worked as an Electronic Sales associate for Staples Office Supply, where I was tasked with sales, customer service, marketing, and management. This part-time employment's most valuable lesson dealt with handling the public. It allowed for me to learn how to read what exactly a person was looking for before they even asked the question. It also taught me  how to handle controversial personalities and come to common ground; keeping both customer and company interests at heart. I have a strong work ethic instilled in me by my parents, and a constant need to prove myself regardless of the circumstances.

Below are a few galleries and descriptions of some of the projects I have worked on. In hindsight,  I should have remembered to take more pictures of projects while under construction to be able to show their progress. I definitely will make sure to document progress a little closer in the future.

Shady Business Tree Nursery

The Shady Business Tree Nursery has been servicing the Lehigh Valley area in its current capacity since 2002. The nursery sells various evergreens species from Douglas Fir, Norway Spruce, Fraiser Fur, Caanan Fur, and Colorado Blue Spruce. The nursery also has a wide variety of deciduous species ranging from Pin Oaks, Maples, Weeping Cherries, American Heritage Birch, and many others.

All trees are grown in-ground and are dug during the early spring and late fall months. A skid steer is used with a 3.5 foot spade to remove the specimen from the earth. Each tree is then stapled, tied, and crimped to ready it for delivery. Each one the the root balls weighs approximately 850-980 pounds and requires machinery for installation. Diameters and calipers of the trees vary; however, each tree that is sold is sold at wholesale price and is the most economical option in the area. For more photos Click Here

Other Jobs and Projects

The photos in this selection are of a secondary entrance that was constructed of modular stacked block and faced with a Quality Stone™ veneer. Each of the columns consisted of an archway faced with Dryvit™ and a central image for added appeal. The gate was constructed of 4x6 pressure treated post and hand-crafted powder-coated hardware. The project took approximately 2 weeks from the time the grade was established, excavated, and then built.
